usually one of them picks up stuff the other doesnt, all depends on how often either of them are updated.

the simplest way is to check your fragmentation and defrag it using your software. XP have already installed in it.

Do a system scan for viruses spyware outdated drivers registery errors and junk files.

ccleaner, hijackthis, check startup programs.

its either your computer is full of crap like viruses, trojans, cookies etc.. or it might be that your computer is outdated such as slow cpu or little ram. After you tried using all of the maintenance software try upgrading your ram, you will notice a difference

but can't they outwork eachother some times? That's why I heard anyway
